Security in the Home – Free assessments from CASAC

At the recent Adel Association meeting Insp. Coldwell, our local Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector brought some information about CASAC, and asked that it be brought to the attention of local residents throughout the area:

CASAC are dedicated to improving community safety and offer residents a FREE security assessment and a free quotation to anyone in the West Yorkshire area.  They have worked alongside West Yorkshire Police for 9 years and have secured over 42,000 properties in that time. Less than 1% of these properties have been victim of a repeat burglary, where access has been gained through security products fitted by CASAC.

If you would like to arrange a free assessment you should call 0845 519 2122. They try to help you reduce the risk of burglary by using a 5 point check list – Do you have?

A 5-lever BS3621 sashlock/deadlock fitted to your main wooden door?

A 5-lever BS3621 sashlock and mortice bolts fitted to your other wooden doors?

An up to date snap/break secure cylinders fitted to all upvc and composite doors?

Locking handles and a shootbolt locking system on your upvc windows?

Key operated locks fitted on all wooden windows?

All their profits go to charity. They are Police checked and only attend your home via an appointment. They carry a police identification card which will be shown to you before you provide access to them.

My Ward colleagues and I have given £15,000 of our funds to help the police to work with CASAC.

Please pass this information to your friends and neighbours. Inspector Coldwell advised that if you live within the Adel & Wharfedale Ward and mention his name when you ring CASAC you may get help with funding any improvements you make. The assessment itself is free.
