I was recently approached by a number of residents to ask if I could do anything about the speed limit through the village. I took this issue up with Highways Officers about reviewing the speed limit and I have now been advised by Highways as follows:
“A659 Arthington Lane, Arthington – existing speed limit is 40mph; proposed speed limit is 40 mph, with a 30mph limit near the built up area ; traffic engineers believe 40mph limit is generally acceptable , with a 30mph limit in the centre of the village.
Speed surveys results indicate 40mph is acceptable to promote.
Survey data to calculate average speed is as follows:
|A659 Arthington Lane, Arthington|
|Site 1||Site 2||Site 3||Site 4|
The four sites were at various points throughout and beyond the village at each end.
The stretch of road that is suggested for a 30mph limit is between the junction with Black Hill Road to end of property called “The Gables” on Harewood Road.
These proposals have been taken to the Council Highways Board for consideration, what are your views on these proposals?
