I am welcoming news that the Council’s garden waste collection service is to be rolled out to a number of new areas in the Adel & Wharfedale Ward.

Residents living in Hilton Grange, Hilton Court, Hilton Mews, and also Moorland Road, Bramhope, will soon benefit from garden waste collections as part of the Council’s plans to extend the service to around 3,000 properties city-wide.

I’m pleased that residents in my ward will benefit from the next phase of this scheme. Adding garden waste to the range of different collections that the council provides was a step in the right direction, and I know it’s a service that has gone down well in the areas that have already trialled it. People with large gardens often have difficulty getting rid of this kind of waste, particularly older residents who might struggle with transporting waste to the tip. Offering garden waste collections therefore provides a convenient way of disposing of the rubbish responsibly. Residents will have the option of opting out of the service if they want, but I’m sure a large proportion of local people will appreciate the service and make use of it.
