I am backing the ongoing fight to retain children’s cardiac services in Leeds at the LGI. The campaign to retain the vital services in the city follows what many consider to be the flawed decision to locate key heart services for children in Newcastle rather than Leeds. As a result of the decision by the Joint Committee of Primary Care Trusts (JCPCT) the people of Leeds are fighting back.

It is great to see people in Leeds getting together to fight this unfair decision.

For those of you that want to make your voices heard on this matter I would also recommend writing to the Secretary of State for Health, Andrew Lansley, to set our your support for children’s cardiac services remaining in Leeds. With enough support it might be possible to get a rethink on these plans and it is certainly my hope that we can force the issue and keep these vital services in the city.
