I am pleased to report that the Council’s Highways Department have agreed to match fund a recent £6000 contribution from the Ward Councillors to pay the installation of a footpath 1.8m in width on the east side of Sir George Martin Drive, between East Causeway and East Moor Lane, where an existing uncontrolled crossing is located. This will enable pedestrians to cross Sir George Martin Drive away from the bends, at a location with better sightlines.
The total cost of the footpath will be £12,000. The campaign for a footpath was started with a petition by local resident Amanda Schonfeld, a local parent. A detailed timescale for implementation is still to be issued.
