LEEDS BRADFORD AIRPORT PLANNING APPLICATION TO RETAIN USE OF JET 2 CHECK IN FACILITY

I have recently received the following information in respect of the Jet 2 check in facility at the Airport.

PLANNING APPLICATION 12/05367/FU

Retention of a temporary check in and arrival lounge (Jet2) at airport for a further period of 3 years at Leeds And Bradford Airport, Whitehouse Lane, Yeadon, Leeds, LS19 7TZ.

I am writing to you to inform you that Leeds Bradford International Airport (LBIA) have submitted a new temporary planning application to retain the existing check in and arrival lounge, operated by Jet2 (also known as Check in Hall B) at the airport. Please see attached photographs for your information.

Planning permission was granted in 2008 for the check in and arrival lounge, under reference P/08/05516/FU. That permission expires on 18 December 2013.

At the time of the renewal of the temporary permission in 2008, The Council recognised that this lounge served a critical purpose in the operation of the airport, albeit that it should not extend the life of this building indefinitely.

LBIA has confirmed that as work begins on the next phase of the terminal building, then the permanent solution for Check in Hall B  would be established. Whilst this work has been delayed, it is recognised that a programme for reviewing the terminal extension, which was explained through the discussions on the extension of time application (12/04240/EXT), will include the future approach to Check in Hall B.

Therefore, the airport proposes that the planning permission is extended for a further 3 years until 18 December 2016 to link in with the terminal works.

I would be grateful to receive any comments Members may have on this temporary application before the 8 February 2013
