COVERT CAMERAS TO CUT DOWN ON FLY-TIPPING

Leeds City Council is to spend £490 on two mini covert outdoor cameras and accessories in a bid to clamp down on people who illegally dump their rubbish in North West Leeds.

The cameras, which are triggered by movement and can take pictures both during daylight and through the night, will be mounted in areas where fly-tipping regularly occurs in a bid to catch and prosecute offenders, and deter other people from fly-tipping. Ultimately it will save the Council money as less time will have to be spent cleaning up the mess fly-tippers leave.

I am delighted that we have been able to purchase these cameras. They will be able to stay onsite for long periods of time to capture people who choose to blight our environment through their irresponsible behaviour.
