I was recently asked at a Street Surgery whether the Council had any plans to place white lines at the junction of Kirkwood View and Kirkwood Avenue where it connects to Wrenbury Crescent.
I took this up with the Highways Operations Manager who advised me as follows:
“I believe it would be beneficial to line this cross road junction, and I will instigate the lining.”
I then checked with Traffic Management Section – West that they had no objections and received the following update:
“Dear Cllr Anderson, Thank you for your email requesting the introduction of road markings at the above junction.
Current guidance states a give-way marking should not generally be used at a minor estate road where traffic speeds are low and visibility is good. However, due to the potential uncertainty that maybe experienced by some I am happy to arrange for the lines to be installed.
I will issue the work to our contracts section by the end of the week and estimate the markings will be installed within 8 – 12 weeks. If you require any further information please don’t hesitate to contact me.”
If you have any thoughts and comments on this proposal, please let me know.
