Thanks to a Wellbeing Grant of £9,000 of matched funding, Cookridge Village Hall will be able to get its roof resurfaced. At a meeting of the Outer North West Area Committee on 26th March Councillors agreed to provide the funding so that the Village Hall could continue to provide the community with a well-used and well maintained asset.

I was approached some weeks ago by the Village Hall committee to ask whether there were any sources of funding they could tap into as the roof needed a lot of work done on it and although they could put some money towards it they would not be able to find the full amount. I was delighted that I could refer their application for a Wellbeing Grant as the Village Hall is well used and well run by a dedicated group of local people. It provides a focal point for all sorts of activities for young and old at all times of the day, evenings and weekends. I am pleased they can now go ahead and do the repair to the roof which will make the building viable for years to come.
