I have received the following information from Assistant Engineer, Traffic Management West:
“I would like to inform you that Leeds City Council is proposing to implement a new pedestrian refuge on A660 Otley Road, south of its junction with The Crescent.
These proposals have arisen following the request for a formal pedestrian crossing facility to be provided on A660 Otley Road, north of its junction with New Adel Lane. Unfortunately, the survey showed that the number of pedestrian movements was far below the requisite amount to justify the implementation of a formal facility in the area. However, it has been considered that the existing pedestrian refuges along A660 Otley Road fall below the desired standard and that this provision should be improved accordingly.
At the present moment, the detailed design is yet to be undertaken and the exact location is to be determined but will be somewhere between The Crescent and the existing pedestrian refuge nearest St. Helens Lane/New Adel Lane.
Once the scheme design has been finalised and costed, the proposals will be reported formally to the Chief Officer and Highways and Transportation Board for approval and a formal decision to proceed with the works. The Board always consider all consultation feedback carefully before taking decisions.”
