Please find below an email I have received from a local resident

“Sometime Sunday pm through to Monday am my husbands car was rifled through, contents of the pockets and glove box were strewn on the floor but nothing valuable was taken, fortunately his sat nav was in the house and they didn’t find his Blue Badge.
I’ve just heard this evening that as well as our house, also cars 4 doors down have been entered too. We’re very puzzled as we always been careful to lock our cars and they have alarms which weren’t deployed.
We haven’t reported our but I believe the others were reported to the police.
Could you please warn people to be vigilant?”

I asked the police what they were aware of and how widespread this is and received the following reply:

“There has been a spate of thefts from vehicles in the lower Holt Park and upper Adel area where insecure vehicles have been entered. There have been five reported crimes in two weeks. It is believed that two suspects are involved and are described as males aged in their late teens. They were seen trying car doors in Adel this week but made off after being challenged by a resident.
I have been working on possible suspects but as yet has no names to put forward.”
