As a result of the recent Street Surgery held, a number of residents raised the issue of speeding vehicles on Church Hill. I asked the Council’s Highways Engineers to carry out a traffic speed assessment and I have now been advised of the results of this. These are set out in the table below. The Highways Officer responsible has commented on them as follows:
“Clearly, the numbers are very satisfactory, with only a small percentage of traffic exceeding the enforceable limit and the mean speed being 22.2mph. Subsequently, I can propose no further measures at this time.”
|Period||Time||Volume||85th Percentile (Max speed at which 85% of vehicles are travelling) at these times||Mean Speed|
|Full||24 hrs||3468||28.2 mph||22.2 mph|
|Peak||8am||272||33.2 mph||26.5 mph|
|Peak||4pm||293||29.4 mph||24.1 mph|
