Leeds has been chosen as the location for Google’s new concept, called the ‘Digital Garage.’ This will be a six month pilot that will open on 30th March based at Leeds Dock providing a drop-in workspace and venue for workshops, some aimed at improving the digital skills and capabilities of SME businesses across Leeds City Region. It will also be available for community use. They will be running sessions for teachers to develop their skills and capabilities around running coding clubs, as well as providing coding clubs for young people.
Google have launched a website dedicated to the digital garage https://digitalgarage.withgoogle.com/ which provides an overview of their vision and a calendar of their own events, with further information available in the near future.
