I am aware that there are continuing anti-social behaviour issues around the old Eastmoor Reformatory site. I have been back to the Council’s Strategic Asset Management manager to ask what they are doing to ensure the site is secure and does not continue to attract anti-social behaviour. He has responded as follows:
“I have been in touch with Property Maintenance, the team who manage void properties, and as a consequence the site was visited on Monday afternoon with a view to investigating the reported breaches in building security with a subsequent visit on Tuesday to put in place measures to make good the security.
I have had confirmed that the site is patrolled by the Council’s security team twice each evening during the week and three times per day on weekends. The patrols involve a drive by inspection, however I have asked whether on one occasion per day the officers could check security of the buildings on foot, at least for the duration of the impending school summer holiday.
[The Council’s] Land & Property [section] is seeking to have the site on the market late summer/early autumn with an associated planning brief.”
I trust this keeps you up to date with this matter. If you have any concerns or queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
