Leeds Parks Fund has been set up as a means of allowing individuals and organisations to make charitable donations to improve green spaces in Leeds. It is overseen by Green Leeds Ltd, a charity set up to receive and administer landfill tax credits within the Leeds area. Green space refers, in this context, to outdoor areas for public use, such as parks, nature reserves, rights of way, sports pitches, recreation grounds, flower beds, woodlands, cemeteries, crematoria etc. The fund’s aim is to improve these spaces as measured by the Green Flag standard. Examples of what could be funded include planting or improving horticultural features, installation or upgrading of play equipment, nature conservation, such as creating or improving wildlife habitats; improved pathways, signs and disabled access.
Donations can be made towards general improvements or earmarked for a specific project.
