FLY TIPPING OFFENDER FINED BY COUNCIL

A resident in the Holtdales Estate was recently fined for fly tipping an item in one of the recycling areas.

The offender was seen by a vigilant resident who was able to give a statement to the Environmental Action Officer who in turn identified the perpetrator and issued a fine.

I am very pleased that action was able to be taken in respect of this incident. It proves that the Council is able to take enforcement action when they have the proof they need. In this case a resident was willing to come forward and identify the person responsible so that the fine could be issued. I am very grateful to the resident for doing this.

I am hopeful that this will serve as a warning to others who might think of leaving unwanted items in the recycling areas, that are not able to be collected as recycling, not to do this as they will be caught and fined. I would also encourage residents to report these incidents and help our Enforcement officers to keep our environment clean and tidy.
