PARKING OBSTRUCTIONS OUTSIDE OF THE LAWNSWOOD SERVICE STATION

I was recently advised by a local resident that there was now an issue with HGVs parking outside of the Lawnswood Service Station, on the road, whilst the occupants of the vehicles went to the garage to purchase food. This has the effect of causing an obstruction for anyone trying to exit Lawns Hall Close and also any drivers on Otley Road who would be unaware there is an entrance to Lawns Hall Close next to the garage as they would not be able to see it. This has the potential to cause an accident. I therefore took this up with the Engineer from Traffic Management and asked if double yellow lines could be introduced outside the garage. He advised as follows:

“[We] have no objections to this; it will clearly have the benefit for improved visibility of the junction to vehicles on Otley Road and also for vehicles wishing to emerge from Lawns Hall Close. We can include this on the Adel Traffic Regulation Order for this year, once that gets up and running and we’ll get it implemented within this financial year.

Once it is in, I’ll keep a close eye on where these wagons are displaced to, if they choose to continue to stop at that particular garage rather than going elsewhere. Any issues can be looked into as appropriate.”

I trust this keeps you up to date with this issue. The Traffic Regulation Order will be done for a cluster of highways changes that are required and these are brigaded together to save on advertising costs, as these are expensive.
