I received information this week that Hallam Land intend to bring forward an outline application for housing on the site next to the Centurion Fields site, opposite Adel Church. They advised me they were delivering a leaflet to local households. The text of the leaflet reads as follows:
We are using this leaflet and our website www.johnsonmowat.co.uk/ consultations to share with you Hallam Land Management’s outline planning application proposals for the development of land off Otley Road, Adel for 100 homes and to reserve land for the possible development by Leeds City Council for a new school as detailed in the Council’s emerging Local Plan.
This application will seek approval for the principle of development here along with two vehicular access points. One serving the main development area to the west of the watercourse and managed by a signal controlled junction off Otley Road, opposite Kingsley Drive. This would also be the main access to the land reserved for a school as required in the emerging Local Plan. The second access to the development would be from Ash Road, coming from Holt Avenue.
The proposed development area is shown here and in more detail overleaf and, in accordance with Leeds City Council’s request, is to the west of the watercourse with land available to the east for a school playing field.
The approval of this outline application will ensure land reserved for a new school could be available for construction as early as 2019. The timing of the building of a new primary school on this site is in the hands of the Council
The outline application will be submitted in two weeks’ time. At that time Leeds City Council will also undertake a public consultation.
