“Once again Leeds District Headquarters is throwing open its doors for the Leeds District HQ Open Day on Sunday 11th September from 11am-3pm .

Last year’s event was hugely successful and hundreds of people joined us to help raise over £1,000 for The Alzheimers Society.  This year’s charity is Martin House Children’s Hospice – a local charity chosen by SLT due to the theme around safeguarding children and we will no doubt raise impressive sums of money again for a fantastic cause.

As in previous year’s events, the day will focus on family fun with children’s and family activities including face painting, bouncy castle, police mascots, mini policing uniforms, wanted posters, a mock crime scene and fingerprinting.  Outside in the front car park we will have NPT, Traffic and Firearms vehicles, off-road motorbikes, a PSU demonstration, custody transport vehicle, classic police cars and an NPAS flyover!  Colleagues from the Fire Service, St Johns Ambulance, the Guide Dogs Sensory Van, ‘Prison Me No Way’….. to name a few ….. plus support on the day from Leeds United Foundation, Ronnie the Rhino and Leeds Force Basketball Team!  The West Yorkshire Police Band plus local community music will be present throughout the day to entertain us.

There will be a ‘market place’ style set up within the ground floor of the DHQ with advice and information stands from Crime Prevention, Neighbourhood Watch, Anti-Social Behaviour, Safeguarding, Prevent Engagement and stands to promote Positive Action recruitment of Police Officers.  In addition, we will have information stands from some of our partner agencies including UKBA, Victim Support, Housing Support agencies, Adopt4Leeds, Foster4Leeds, Change for Life, plus many other

And finally ……… members of our SLT and the Chief Officer Team will abseiling from the roof of LDHQ to raise further funds for Martin House.  Donations can be made online via: www.justgiving.com/West-Yorkshire-Police-Leeds-District

So how can you help? …………. aside from coming along to enjoy the day with your family and friends and helping to raise a fantastic amount of money, please promote this event amongst your community contacts and agencies.  In addition we will be opening the Community Café at LDHQ on the day, so for those star bakers amongst us, if you would be willing to bake and donate any cakes, buns, or biscuits for the event it would be hugely appreciated.  These would be sold within the café with ALL proceeds to Martin House Children’s Hospice.
