I have received an email from a resident advising they have been bothered by phone calls from a company called Enviro claiming that they can get grants for people to help reduce the cost of their gas and electric bills. On checking the phone number the call came from it was established this company had a complaint logged against them that they do not adhere to the Telephone Preference Service (TPS) information. http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/index.html
I took this up with Trading Standards and they have advised as follows:
“Councillor, please can you advise residents to report complaints via citizens advice. That way it can be logged on a database that all Trading Standards can access and if it needs investigating then it can be referred appropriately.”
If you receive any sales or other calls you do not want, not just from this company, it can be reported via the Citizens Advice Bureau. This way the calls can be logged as described above. For ease of reference the information to do this is below.
Citizens Advice consumer helpline Telephone: 03454 04 05 06 Textphone: 18001 03454 04 05 06 Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. Closed on bank holidays.
Calls to the helpline cost up to 9p per minute from a landline. If you’re calling from a mobile, it’ll cost between 3p and 40p per minute – if you have inclusive minutes, it’s the same as calling a landline. Find out more about call charges.
