A number of residents have been contacting me about concerns over road safety on Stairfoot Lane, some around speed but others around the fact that no matter what speed a vehicle is doing it can sometimes be of concern to parents and older people. I’ve taken this issue up with Highways and set out below is their reply:

“In response to your email, I am led to believe that the engineer dealing with the 20mph zone has sent out the proposals which include the reduction of the speed limit on Stairfoot Lane as discussed, to Ward Councillors for consultation.

With regards the introduction of new warning signs, road markings and improvements for pedestrians, the signing and road markings have all been issued to our various contractors and will be implemented in the near future and the installation of an informal pedestrian dropped crossing is being progressed by our Access Officer.”
