I met recently with a local resident to look at the problems being caused by the basal growth and some of the low branches on sight lines at the above junction. I took this up with the Arboricultural Officer who has advised as follows:
“The trees identified on the junction of St Helen Lane and Adel Lane have been inspected, ref:D68132.
On inspection it was noted that as reported there are a number of Horse Chestnuts and Oaks with basal growth that is restricting sight lines at the junction.
It has therefore been recommended that 7 trees in the area have pruning to remove the basal growth, clear any low branches to the highway and remove minor deadwood as identified.
This work has been categorised as 3a in line with the Forestry Section tree risk management systems with a recommended works date of by the 22/09/17.”
