A recent Freedom of Information request has revealed that over £8m has yet to be spent in the city from developments delivered in the past 5 years. I do have some concerns about this as these monies are paid by developers to the Council in order that benefits can be delivered to existing communities where new housing has been built and where additional infrastructure and services are needed.

It is worrying that some of this money dates back 5 years and there are many things that it is needed for such as improved highways, school places etc. It is also important that the Council works closely with residents in those communities to identify where s106 monies should be spent as it is that local knowledge that can often prove vital in identifying the best schemes and projects.
