I recently sought clarity on recycling shredded paper. Waste Management Services advised that shredded paper cannot be put into the green bin as this causes problems with the machines when sorting the recyclables. If visiting a Household Waste Sort Site such as Meanwood or Kirkstall etc. shredded paper can be put into the blue paper recycling banks. It should not be put in garden waste skips.
In order to reduce the amount of shredded paper, if it is possible just to shred the confidential parts of document the rest can go in the green bin unshredded.
