Please find below the text of a letter sent to residents in the vicinity of the culvert works which will help inform anyone travelling on the road from 8th May to the end of July.
“There is a masonry arch culvert which runs beneath the A658 Pool Bank New Road, approximately 350m north east of the Dyneley Arms Junction with the A660. Our inspections of the culvert have revealed that it is in a poor condition and we are now in a position to commence works to repair it.
The works comprise of the excavation of the existing road surface/fill material from over the culvert and the construction of new reinforced concrete slabs on piled foundations, with the new slabs spanning over the existing culvert.
The works are programmed to commence on the 8th May 2018 and last for approximately 10 weeks. They are to be carried out by the contractor A E Yates.
To safely undertake the work single lane closures with 2 way temporary traffic lights will be needed for the duration of the works. The A658 is a very busy road, so to complete the work as quickly as possible the contractor will work seven days a week, where it is practicable to do so, and for extended hours (6am to 8pm). The temporary traffic lights will be manually controlled between the hours of 7am and 7pm to minimise any traffic delays.
To ensure the safety of both the workforce, and the travelling public, a temporary 30mph speed limit will be in place from the Dyneley Arms junction through the works.
Pedestrian access through the works will generally be maintained, although there may be a short delay on occasion to ensure their safety.
We understand these essential safety works are likely to cause disruption, but I can assure you that we will do all we can to minimise this as much as possible.”
I have been asking the Council for the names of the Officers who will be co-ordinating this on site and also an email address to contact them on. Set out below is the response I received:
“Further to our meeting last week can I please provide you with our phone numbers for the Pool Bank culvert works.
David Stocks 0113 37 87355
David Aspinall 0113 37 87342
Once works have started we will set these up so that they divert to our mobiles.”
