POOL RECREATION GROUND SUCCESSFUL FUNDING BID FOR TREE MANAGEMENT

The Pool Recreation Ground Management Committee (RGMC) has been successful in its bid for funding to the Outer North West Area Committee at its meeting on Monday 24th September. A request for £4950 was made to the Committee which has been granted.

Pool RGMC are a very important organisation in the fabric of Pool Village and surrounding area. The grounds that they have to look after are vast and it is very expensive to keep up to all of the maintenance required. They asked for a grant from the committee and I am pleased that this was agreed. The money will go towards tree management of the trees running alongside the River Wharfe. The area is very popular with walkers and the school children also use it as part of their outdoor learning. The trees have become unsafe with recent storms and they need to be maintained so that the future of the grounds is secured for everyone to use.

This area enhances the many local activities available in Pool and the work can now be carried out so that recreational activities can continue and the access to the footpath can be maintained.
