You may be interested in the information I have received below in relation to forthcoming developments within the Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.

“Dear Councillor

You may be aware that our ambitious plans for a new hospital development at Leeds General Infirmary, Hospitals of the Future, were discussed at a pre-application meeting with the planning committee at Leeds City Council (LCC) last week in advance of submitting our formal planning application to LCC in December.

Our plans are published on LCC’s website and we have now begun a period of engagement with our stakeholders and the general public. This will inform the formal planning application and also our Outline Business Plan.

Hospitals of the Future is our vision to build two state-of-the-art hospitals on the site of the Old Nurses’ Home at the LGI.

The first will expand our world-class adult health services, with facilities including a brand-new theatre suite for day-case surgery, added critical care and a central department for Outpatient services.

The second will be a brand-new home for Leeds Children’s Hospital. For the first time in Leeds, this will bring health services for children and young people together in an amazing, new building purpose-built for their needs.

Both hospitals will be a huge investment in the future of health services for patients from Leeds, West Yorkshire and beyond.

If you would like to see the plans, we are holding two drop-in sessions, both at the Carriageworks, The Electric Press, Millennium Square, Leeds LS2 3AD.

The dates are:

Friday 9 November, anytime between 10am – 3pm.

Monday 19 November, anytime between 4pm – 8pm.

There is also more information, a fly-through of the proposed development and an opportunity to leave comments at www.futurehospitalsleeds.co.uk
