I was recently asked by a local resident to ask Highways for their proposals to improve road safety/pedestrian safety and vehicle speeds around the above location, particularly at the top end near Ravensknowie (as a reference point only).
I took this up with Highways in the middle of October and their original response is below:
“We will arrange for a speed survey to be undertaken. Realistically, there are no engineering measures we could seek to introduce to slow traffic and the accident level does not allow us to consider the introduction of speed cameras. The results of the speed survey will be passed to the Police for their due attention and I will notify you of the results as well. I expect this to take approximately 4-6 weeks.”
The speed survey results are now available and their update is:
“We propose no action as a result of these, as the recorded mean speeds are comfortably within the posted speed limit.”
If you would like me to email you a copy of the results please send an email to barry.Anderson@leeds.gov.uk
