CO-OP, ADEL – PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS TO THE STORE

I have received the information below from the Manager at the Adel Co-op in relation to proposals to extend the store. I will update my website when a planning application comes forward.

“As you will know the store in its current layout is compromised and uses an external  storage containers to hold stock. This is of course far from ideal from the perspective of our members, customers and in store colleagues.

We would very welcome the opportunity to extend and improve our existing store so that we can deliver the best possible offer to serve the local community.

The Post Office will be retained in the extended store so that we can continue to accommodate this facility which is an important resource to the local community. Extending the store will also create additional employment opportunities locally. We will also continue to support local causes with 1 % of member spend on own brand products going to our local community fund.

Our proposals involve extending the ground and first floor of the store so that we can increase the ground floor  trading area of the store from 184m/2 to 272m/2 the first floor extension will be used for storage / offices. This will allow us to offer a full range of goods and will dramatically improve the shopping experience for both  our customers and members. The extension will enable us to provide the local community with a modern fit for purpose store without the current external storage container.”
