Please find below information sent on behalf of the Leeds Lord Mayor’s charity fundraising. If any of you are a member of any organisation that may be interested, hopefully this information may help.
We are writing to you to ask you take time out from your busy schedule to take a moment to think about the Lord Mayor’s Charity and how you might be able to get involved in raising awareness and funds. This year the Lord Mayor is supporting – St Gemma’s Hospice.
We are the Trustees of the Lord Mayor’s Charity, and each year we work together, with other members of the Charity Committee, to support whoever is our Lord Mayor to raise the profile of their chosen charity and achieve their money raising goal.
Over recent years, successive Lord Mayors have developed a concept called “Just One Day” where every organisation in the city is asked to celebrate their pride and love for our great city by joining with the Lord Mayor, for Just One Day, to raise funds for the deserving local charity they have chosen that year.
This is where you come in: Who is better placed to be able to reach local groups, schools, and businesses to encourage them to participate in Just One Day than the local councillor at the heart of each community?
There is also a link to an animation that explains in 2 minutes what the role of the Lord Mayor is, and why we have a Lord Mayors Charity. Feel free to share it on social media, or use it to give a talk to a local community group. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kT6f8hczdoo.
There is a specific Just One Day date on 17th May that is a bit like a Red Nose Day event for Leeds, where we celebrate our love of Leeds by supporting the Lord Mayor with one final push in their last few days of fundraising. However people can choose whichever day they like to suit them, and wherever possible, the Lord Mayor will be happy to attend fundraising events.
Get in touch if you have any questions, and thank you for your attention.
