I have been this update from OPAL. Residents in Pool would normally look to Otley Action for Older People so you will need to check but in terms of the breakfasts for school children I thought it was important in case this helps.

“We are starting our lunch clubs from 14th September for OPAL members – they must book prior to attending. For people who are currently receiving a hot meal delivery, this option will still be available if they aren’t able to attend the lunch at Welcome In.

Yorkshire Dance have started an outdoor dance class outside at the Welcome In Community Centre and we have had very good feedback.

We hope to start our chair exercise and tai chi classes in the next month or so and we are working on logistics for this. The OPAL yoga class continue to exercise each week via Zoom.

Our Friday Zoom group is growing in numbers and they enjoy doing an activity each week including singing and quizzes.

OPAL’s staff and volunteers continue to do door step/garden visits and strolling buddies.  We also still have some volunteers supporting people with their shopping and the phone buddy scheme is in full throttle with over 400 people receiving a regular phone call from an OPAL volunteer/staff member.

OPAL staff are doing home visits for some OPAL members who are finding the isolation particularly difficult and who are unable to meet on the doorstep/outside.

We are offering FREE breakfasts (cereal, toast, fruit and juice) to school children at Welcome In Community Centre each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9am – 11am for all of August.

Social distancing rules apply.  We would love to see more young faces take advantage of this so would really appreciate it if you could promote it to anyone you thing might be interested.

Also, Money Buddies are delivering a service for 4 weeks each Thursday from 20th August. They are alternating between Welcome In and St Pauls Church – see attached poster.

This might be useful for any families who need some financial support such as debt management and income maximisation. The first session is at Welcome In next Thursday 20th August, 10-1pm – 1:30-4pm so please do pass this on to anyone who might be interested.

Please share this with anyone who you think might be interested in joining OPAL, who needs a bit of extra support or who would like to access these services.

Finally, if you need meeting space, we have our community meeting room available which has mobile Perspex screen in. The room is suitable for up to 4 people and will be free of charge for agencies/professionals working in LS16 for the duration of 2020. Email admin@opal-project.org.uk to book.”
