I was recently asked by a local resident to investigate and noise being made by the demolition work at the old Eastmoor Secure Unit. As you may be aware the move to the new Unit is now complete and the land needs to be made good so that the site can be re-used.
I took this up with the Project Manager and he has responded as follows:
“Unfortunately the demolition is a noisy operation and this cannot be made quieter as the removal of the heavy reinforced foundations and slabs can only be broken out using large concrete breaking devices. The demolition is almost completed and we are clearing the site to complete the landscape works and reinstate the grounds into green fields.
We are keeping to a working day from 8.00am – 4pm Monday to Friday and not working over the weekend.
I will of course investigate the noise and make sure that we are complying with all Health and Safety legislation.”
